My name is Anush. I am an American-born Armenian living in Southern California. Ever since I can remember, I have loved creating. My father was good at challenging me to make things on my own, to push my imagination, to really “SEE” what was around me. I love to mix my ethnic background in with my creations.
My jewelry company was called Pomegranate & Eye. I chose this name because I make pomegranates out of precious metal clays. Pomegranates are the symbol of abundance, prosperity, creativity and imagine, yes - but they are also the symbol for my rich Armenian culture. The Eye part of the my business name is there because I also love eye beads, not so much the “evil eye” part of it, but the part that is steeped in my culture...and for that fact, global culture as well.
I am a THREE TIME cancer survivor. Recuperating from my first battle, 25 years ago, the concept of painting with Armenian coffee was born as my sister, Sona, would come to my home each day during my recovery, make Armenian coffee, and then read my fortune from the cup. It’s fun. It’s what we do. Back then I had the idea to paint a recreation of what was in my cup, except explode it 10 times the true size and paint it with Armenian coffee as the pigment. My first “Coffeescape” was born and is hanging in my dining room.
Flash forward to May of 2017. After spending 14 YEARS at a desk job in the exciting world of insurance (NOT!), I decided it was time to leave and pursue my passions of art, jewelry, and my wellness business (Doterra Essential oils). And that’s just what I did! I purchased the domain name of “Essentially Anush” to encompass those three passions. I started painting with coffee again, and in January of 2018, I had my first art show at Roslyn Gallery, which featured my coffee paintings and other mediums of art.
Today I am a freelance artist, jeweler, and wellness advocate. I am also one of those “let-me-show-you-pictures-of-my-grandbabies” grammas. They are my joys.
I love to create. I love to draw and paint. I love making jewelry. I love to cook. And I love to love.
Welcome to my shop!
